Dear Sadie,
We had a party for your first birthday and invited all of our friends. I found out your dad is a talented balloon animal artist, although the balloon swords were pretty popular.
We all sang Happy Birthday to you in the yard. At first you weren't sure if you liked all those people looking and singing at you. But then you smiled and clapped and kicked your little feet excitedly. To my relief, really, because you could have just as easily cried. You seemed a bit overwhelmed by all the people in your house for most of the party.
Then we gave you a cupcake. You poked at the icing and decided you did not like it. You would not even try it!
Oh well. I'm sure there will be many cupcakes in your future.
Here's some shots of the decorations:
Your dad set up a photo booth in his office and took studio portraits of everyone who came:
It was a fun party. Thanks for coming everybody!
Love, Mama

that's a good as a first birthday gets!
ReplyDeleteLOVED seeing the pictures. Next time try the cupcake without frosting. Maybe she takes after her Great Aunt Connie. When I was little, I didn't like frosting (now, of course, I do).
ReplyDeleteWhat a great party (wish I could have been there)! Maybe she's waiting until she's old enough to eat the cupcake with a fork. :) And, can MPB come to Maddy's first birthday and set up a photo booth?
ReplyDeleteGreat party and great photos! Wish we lived closer and could have come. Also...A GREAT INVITATION! I especially like the photos of John and Philipa..the rest are good too..oh.. how about the one with the green monster and the cute kid....and...the party hat being used as a funnel...It looks like a good time was had by all.
